What is Showcase?

AI Demos & Experiments is the creative, technical, and production team behind the Showcase exhibition at Google Cloud Next, where more than 30,000 executives, developers, and IT decision-makers come together to get hands-on experience with our latest tech.

Showcase is the largest physical manifestation of Google Cloud’s current strategic priorities — an organizing milestone around which marquee product launches and major company initiatives take shape.

The sprawling, 64,000-square-foot environment functions as a technology playground, offering everything from product demos that bring emerging possibilities to life to interactive experiences that show how our leading customers deploy our technology in the real world.

At its heart, Showcase is about bridging technical capability and practical imagination, helping attendees imagine and directly experience how their organizations can put our AI stack to work.

A busy Showcase aisle blurred with movement, a towering navy wall reading “AI for what’s next” beside a swirl of blue light, two attendees talking on a planter bench at its base.
An elevated view across the Agent Challenge, a wood cityscape of model buildings ringed by demo screens, with the yellow Google Cloud and Mars booth on one side and bowls of fruit on a refreshment cart on the other.
A crowded main aisle seen from above, running toward a tall banner reading “The new way to cloud”, past a Gemini at Work sign, Customer Theater wayfinding, and a sculpted Google Cloud logo on a wood-clad wall.
An elevated view of the industry kiosks, black arched lampposts standing over red, orange and blue stations for Security and Build AI Apps & Agents, with the yellow Mars snack booth beyond.
The developer half of Showcase in neon green and black, the retro CLI Mission Control marquee on one side and Developer Tools terminals on the other, with rows of seating under a green chevron wall marked Google Cloud.

Showcase at a glance

Each year, Showcase transforms a vast, empty convention space into a future-forward metropolis, with the city serving as a creative framework for the entire exhibition.

Despite its scale, the environment is carefully choreographed, using distinct landmarks, intuitive wayfinding, and a clear visual strategy to guide attendees through product demos, customer stories, hero installations, speaker theaters, and more.

  • 64,000 square feet
  • 30,000+ attendees
  • 29 programming Areas
  • 126+ product demos
  • 71 lightning talks
The Mars AI Snack Factory at eye level, two kiosks of candy-coloured piping joined by a yellow arch branded Google Cloud and Mars, reading “Connecting snackers to snacks with Gemini Enterprise” above a yellow-dotted carpet.
The Team USA installation built as a sculpted snow drift, skis and snowboards planted in the bank beneath a curved screen and an “Imagine” pillar, with a panel reading “Discover the physics no one could see with Google Cloud AI”.
The Google Cloud and FairPrice Group storefront, a flower stand and shopping trolley outside a mock grocery reading “The Store of Tomorrow”, with the Agent Challenge archway beyond.
The Agent Challenge from the floor, attendees gathered along its wood cityscape beneath a suspended lit map and a screen showing Emergency Response Routing.
The AI Science Explorer entrance, a sweeping curtain of translucent blue banners over fruit trees and planting, beside a panel offering to explore Google’s scientific research through food.
The CLI Mission Control booth seen across the aisle, a tall cardboard rocket beside its red console where two people work under illustrated rocket panels and a Google Cloud Next 26 banner.
A packed session at the Developer Theater, the audience facing two speakers on a black and yellow stage below giant lit green chevrons, a slide reading “CPU vs. GPU Showdown” on screen.
A rainbow canopy of draped fabric hanging over the floor, a standing crowd filling the aisle around a Google Cloud stage where two speakers sit beside an “Agentic AI” slide.

Making technology tangible

Google Cloud’s portfolio spans an extraordinary breadth of products, capabilities, and possibilities. By taking the form of a city, Showcase gives that breadth a physical architecture — a concrete, mappable space that attendees can move through and explore.

This kind of spatial logic makes complexity easier to absorb and creates a more intuitive sense of how our technology fits together. Showcase also deepens that immersion through hands-on engagement, giving attendees opportunities to touch, test, build, and learn by doing.

How we bring that to life:

Brand immersion

Brand immersion

A 360-degree environment translates our brand values into sensory experiences, engaging sight, sound, touch, taste, and an overall feeling of place.

Active participation

Active participation

Experiences are built around participation rather than observation, inviting attendees to make choices, solve challenges, create outputs, and shape what happens next.

Practical application

Practical application

Products are placed in real-world context, helping attendees understand not just what a capability does, but how it works and where it creates meaningful value.

Amplification

The experience extends beyond the exhibition floor, generating moments attendees want to capture, share, and carry into conversations beyond Next.

Two audiences, two visual modes

Showcase is divided into two complementary districts, each with a distinct look and feel to help attendees quickly orient themselves toward the content best suited for their interests and needs.

“Light mode” experiences — geared toward executives, IT decision-makers, and press — focus on outcomes: business value, applications, and strategic possibilities.

“Dark mode” experiences — built for developers, architects, and technical practitioners — zero in on implementation: tools, systems, and underpinning infrastructure.

Put another way, light mode content is principally about the “what” and “why,” while dark mode content is about the “how.”

Two strategy cards side by side, a black “Build” card for developers and architects listing a hands-on makerspace and agentic architecture, and a white “Imagine” card for executives and press promising art of the possible, each over a grid of reference photos.

Built to travel

The impact of Showcase extends far beyond Next, as the exhibition sets the experiential direction for the year ahead.

From the start, hero demos and experiments are built within reusable frameworks, allowing them to scale across major Google events and other marquee moments around the world.

This approach extends the life of the work while creating greater consistency across our global experiences. Each year, Showcase demos are redeployed more than 100 times across four global regions.
